Hunter Sports Centre expansion
Lake Macquarie City Council has given a green light to redeveloping the Hunter Sports Centre to deliver a state-of-the-art sports and wellbeing facility.
To complement our existing athletics track and gymnastics centre, Council will construct:
- A new fitness centre
- Function rooms and café
- A warm-up track and throws area
- An athlete testing building
- A NSW Trampoline Centre of Excellence
Warm Up Track and Throws area NOW OPEN
- 4 Lane 110m running track with 40m bend
- Inbuilt SmarTrack diagnostics measuring real time results for runs, tapping step distance, agility and jumps.

Lake Macquarie City council has approved $42 million for the project, with construction to commence 2023.
Athlete testing building
The Athlete testing building will incorporate cutting edge sports science testing and education spaces as well as additional public amenities.
Sport and Community Centre
The three-storey sport and community centre will feature:
- Creche area
- Open foyer
- Multi-purpose rooms
- Function/Meeting rooms
- 24-hour gymnasium
- Office spaces
- Board room
- Meet management room
- Café and commercial kitchen
- New amenities
NSW Trampoline Centre of Excellence
The NSW Trampoline Centre of Excellence will deliver Australia’s only dedicated Trampoline Centre of Excellence.
The project includes:
- a 1300m2 arena equipped with 12 trampolines and a foam pit and warm-up area
- Grandstand seating for 400 spectators
- Front of house and management rooms
- Amenities and storage
- 12-metre ceiling height
- audio visual equipment for training purposes
Improved traffic flow
- Entry improvements including a new driveway and signalised pedestrian crossing at Stockland Drive
- Undercover areas and walkways
- Reconfiguration and expansion of the car park
